Amazons “Daughters Of Ares”

More Amazons –Linear –A 021 set
As some of you might know I have painted up some Dark Alliance Amazons as seen on my last diorama, so I was pretty excited to find this set from Linear-A. After checking out the box and description, I thought I would take a chance and see what they were like. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at their quality and size and they fit really well with the Dark Alliance figures, so I would recommend them if one needs to bulk out this set.
Normally I wouldn’t do this but with things as they are becoming in these politically correct times, I will put a warning up that these little figures are mostly portrayed in a naked form.
I have taken a few shots of eleven of the twelve poses, the one omitted is sitting down and I did not feel I needed that pose just yet. There are 48 figures in the box and I have to say the sculpturing is very good and if the PSR were to review this set they would say there is no flash, but me being me I still ran the blade over a few seams, but I’m am a bit fussy.

There are a few shots (taken in the shed on a nice warm day) on their own and then a few with some Dark Alliance figures mixed in to show some comparison.
As some of you may know we lost a great sculptor of figures this year (a big thanks to Paul Bodd for letting us know) in Leonardo Torrincini, he was a great help to me when I was doing my Roman diorama. I’m proud to say that his fine figures of the Celts Gaul casualties made it that much more real to me, and I have also used some of his crows on the Moscow retreat if one looks closely. He was a true gentleman and a great contributor to our craft and one who shall be sorely missed.

Well this will be my last post for 2019 so I will wish you all who are Christmas folk a great one and to all you others just have lots of fun! Cheers Pat.

Very nice little figures Pat and thank goodness for the warning. I always like ro prepare myself for seeing naked women! Sad to learn of a talented hobbiest passing and a work desk falling silent. Merry Christmas to you and yours and looking forward to seeing what you get up to in 2020. Should be exciting. Oh, and well done to tech advisor for the slide show! 🤗

They are beautifully sculpted and, what’s more, beautifully painted too. A really inspiring set of figures. I’ve been wondering about the portrayal of women in these figures and although there’s nakedness, I don’t see them as blatantly sexualised or unrealistically proportioned. The backdrop is really nice too. 🙂

I’m telling you, I simply would not survive 45c. I thought I’d collapse walking out to an air-conditioned car in 35c heat this year… Stay safe and keep cool, fella.

Thanks mate, you are so right in regards to theses lassies, and what you say is right because if they were I don’t feel they would sit right with us modelling folk .Although they are less action than the Dark Alliance ones I feel that they can be worked in well with them. I’m working a dio at the moment that I’m going to incorporate them in at the moment , the back drop I used for the photos is a bit of a give away on who will be pitting themselves against the Amazons this time.
Regarding the weather mate, I was born and raised in a warm area (NSW) of Australia and I just thrive on the heat, but when it gets below 50F just call me the weakling, because I’ll be tucked up inside painting tiny figures !!! and you and the family have a great Christmas and you keep warm mate !

Great work Pat, nudity in the right place is never offensive, and with amazons your pretty safe.
Sad to hear of another sculptor passing, who sound’s like he was a true gent.
Hope you have a great Christmas

Boobies😍… on a more serious note, these look great, nice to see the sculptor did a natural looking female nude… if you want so see minis where the sculptor needed to get out in the fresh air and meet ladies then check out the Pendraken 10mm Amazons. Nudity in miniatures is a funny thing. Naked Celt fanatics are deemed acceptable, but show a naked lady and people think you are some kind of weirdo. I remember years ago at a convention some poor sod getting a right earful as he had Amazons fighting Greeks… both naked, but said lady was giving him grief that he was objectifying women…

Thanks Steve, you are so right about how nudity is seen even now in the 21st century ,it still amuses me that I still get a few tut tuts from acquaintances, me the old guy with that has just shared a Xmas with an all female affair, three sisters ,three nieces, a wife and two daughters and after perusing these fine figure had only admiration for them, ahh !there was some criticism of some of the Dark alliance girls legs being a little odd, ha ha .
I must check out these Pendraken figures you have interested now ,Cheers Pat.
