Steppes Warriors (Set 1)

After I painted the nomads I thought I would do some cavalry in case they would be needed for the desert diorama, so I felt that the Steppes Warriors would do the trick. Again, Dark Alliance have done a great job on these figures, fine detail and very little flash and the poses (12) are more than adequate for a small group of mounted warriors.

I’ll probably have this one done over the Easter break. I’ve only have to paint some more Amazons and away we go.  The walls and trees are done, I just have to put down some static grass and mount the fortress wall and slap on the figures and any other minor details. All going well I should be posting it next weekend.

I suppose you are wondering what has happened down at the swamp! Well the angry Goblins and the agro Elves have obviously been held up in the post due to the shortage of aircraft moving around the globe at the moment.  So until the, I have plenty of other things on the go with, not to mention  going to work! However, I can’t grumble as I can get out and about like our mate IRO.

I have now reached the fifty mark of followers which is a bit of a surprise, as when I started, I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested in what I was doing! Once again, thank you to you all for your kind comments, they certainly inspire me to take up the brush or scalpel even when I come home from work knackered!!

Looking good Pat, some nice miniatures there and well painted. Quick question, do they come without basses? And even bigger question. How the heck did you get them to stand up long enough to take the photo!

Thanks Steve , most of the figures come with bases but I cut them of and insert a thin piece of steel rod into a leg, with about an eighth of an inch left protruding so I can then stick them into my terrain bases that are made of styrofoam covered with a smear of plaster . I do this so that I can move the figures around until I get them in the most suitable position. I’m glad you asked mate I should do a how to , as others are probably thinking the same .

Nicely done on the figures Pat and looking forward to seeing the end result of this and the other things you have on the go. Congratulations on the 50 mark, the others don’t know what they are missing but they will cotton on eventually. The main thing is you enjoy what you are doing.

Thanks Dave , I have a feeling for this one, as you would know when you have that feeling that it is going to work! Hope to get this little guy done before I’m forced inside due to it being a bit cold for this old Auuss ,and yep mate I’m getting more enjoyment from this new direction, fantasy, as I can paint them as I won’t to not like I have to when I’m doings historical stuff . I do feel for you lads and lassies being in lockdown, I am so lucky to be working and able to get out each day ! Keep your mob safe , talk soon .

Thanks Dave , Your comment on my colour choice echoed by my hero Paul Bod ! He has been an inspiration to myself since I got back into modelling, his approval I said to my wife was like getting a letter from the Queen !🤭🤪😅😂🤣

Well done. I haven’t seen these figures before – they’re really nice! I see the LotR connection, with those helmets and armour. Dark Alliance are making some nice stuff. I’m very glad my horse work has been of assistance, yours are looking great with all the armour.

Looking forward to another cracking dio!!!!! 🙂
