The Move – The Persevering Painter

Well my friends, I’m back for a short time as we finished the renovations and made the place pretty as a picture and sold the house on Saturday. It went well and I’m happy to say that a young couple purchased it so hopefully will be able to utilize the schools and other amenities close by, as we did with our children (T.A and the Infant), if that’s the direction they choose in the future.

I haven’t been able to keep up with everyone due to not having the old computer accessible, not to mention, lacking the time and energy after all the work we put into the renovation but I will try and check out some of your posts before they disconnect me again next week for the move to the country. I’m sure I have missed a lot of but will try to catch up on all of your exciting posts but do forgive me if I fail somewhat, just put it down to old age!

I haven’t been idle this last week as I was able to set myself up in the congested garage where we had to put our stuff during inspections, not the best set up but at least its summer. I have posted some photos of my retreat from the house and my resurrection in the shed, which kept me going until today when I had to pack that little bastion up.

I have been painting up an array of different figures, more than enough, but one never knows! I won’t get any shots before we go, but this post is so you all know I’m still around.

Great to hear from you Pat. Moving is always quite a thing and something for now I keep putting off but the day will arrive again I’m sure. Good to see that throughout you have managed to keep painting. Good luck with the move and say hi to Tech Advisor. Hope to catch up once you’re settled.

Thanks mate! great to be back, she said Hi back! and she is looking forward to coming up country with us. It has been a bit of a trial but nothing like a lot of people around the world have had to experience. Keep well mate ,they say your lot over there are not getting it easy due to a nasty second wave of this bloody virus .

Now you have got me intrigued and a little worried! Our biggest problem is we are small island but with a dense population. Add into the mix some poor decision making, albeit with the benefit of hindsight, and you get to where we are. We have had some easing over the period but we have mostly ignored it preferring instead to keep ourselves to ourselves. Still when this is all over I hope to get some serious travelling in. Might even get to Australia again at some point who knows. Take care mate. 🙂

Cheers Pat, we are all doing well mate, lockdown is biting now though. On Shetland we had got to zero cases then someone had a party that led to over 120 cases directly linked to it and resulted in three deaths. Bearing in mind that our total since the start is 190, so the vast majority were since December.Luckily we weren’t effected by it personally but my wife’s colleagues ended up with it, luckily they are fine but proved to be asymptomatic. But I have my mountain of toys to paint and some larger scale miniatures on the way to try as a diorama… watch this space. Say hi to TA for me, how is her tiny house doing?

Hey there Pat! Glad to see you back, even if for a quick check-in! Looking through your photos and wondering if I’ll have the gumption to actually box up all the dioramas I’ve worked on in the last year when I finally get around to moving!
Again, looking forward to new posts from you in the near (or far) future!

Hi Pat, sounds like it’s been a slog, but well worth it for you! 🙂 Thanks for sharing the pics! I’ve done you (and Azazel) a favour by not blogging much lately, and even what’s there’s just crap, so you safely skip past it without anyone getting upset!

Thanks mate , just got the house sold in time as from last night we are in lockdown and everything is closed , strange thing is that they are calling it the UK flue but last year they didn’t call it the China 🇨🇳 flue 🤔.

Thanks Mark , we just squeezed through as the virus has struck again and everything is closed, e.g. auctions 🥵But as moving house is considered essential we can still move up country soon🤓

Hope the whole transfer goes well, Pat. Still waiting for a moving date for mine…should be sometime within the next 2-3 weeks we hope now. In anticipation, I transferred much of my ‘army’ over to the in-laws (they live in the same village we’re supposed to be moving to), me not trusting any removals firm with them. My wife dropped them off yesterday and I stuck my head into the car before she went and said “Just so as you know, that’s over half my army you’ve got in the back there, including most of my best troops and all my cavalry brigade – drive real slow!” She gave me ‘that look’ again which I probably deserve…

Love seeing the treasure trove of boxes and especially the artworks and objects on the walls. My kind of room.

Anyway, glad to hear you’ve been getting yourself sorted. Don’t worry about your blog until you get to place when you can restart things. Moving is stressful enough! Take care

Thanks mate just about completed the packing, we leave next Tuesday and are starting to get excited . It’s wise to move the army ahead of oneself as you can’t be to careful 😉, well good luck with your move and will talk soon 🤓.

Good to see you rear your head again Pat – I was getting a little worried to be honest, though I’ve hardly been posting or keeping up lately so I was just hoping you’d been doing the same. Grats on the sale, and good luck on getting out of here and into somewhere a little quieter. Retirement and not having to deal with people sounds like quite the plan! 🙂
