Report On My Absence.

Well folks I’m still around, I have been so busy what with the youngest daughter being able to come to stay after the lockdown ended, she arrived at the right time as spring is a time for weeds to flourish as well as lawns and grass to grow so one becomes a slave to the garden and the paddock.

The wife and I have just had our 36th anniversary so we travel to the city for a few days and then ended up in Bendigo, a small regional city not far from us, it is good to get home, and oh how I missed the weeds and lawn!! Oh I did manage to buy a new car, Fi gets the old one as I’m certainly not have farm produce in it or towing the trailer when we collect hay and manure!

It’s been a bit big month for purchasing things, a new lawnmower, and the car, I was able to purchase a heap of modelling stuff will in Melbourne, last years present vouchers and then there was the Airbrush!!! I must have been crazy! Me and mechanical things don’t get on well, If something goes wrong I generally take it apart and find I can’t get it back together the way it should, I sorry to say I’m guilty of sending a lot of stuff to landfill!!

Well it stared of well enough, I was eager to have a go on my return; I had done research on what could trip me up so I was mildly confident but still nervous!! As I say I managed to paint two little tanks cleaning diligently after each spray job. I was feeling pleased with myself until it happened; yep you guessed it, a blockage of all things! Well you know the rest of the story, taken apart and cleaned and like all ways it wouldn’t go back together as usual. Oh my wife heard me laughing in the shed and came to see what was so funny! I had to laugh as I knew it was going to happen!

Well the Tech adviser was told and so with a little advice I was able to fix it!!! Well enough waffle, post some photos of the toy and the results soon! Keep safe all.

    Congrats on the new wheels! What , you also got an airbrush too! Cool, and if I can be of any assistance let me know. I have a Zoom account and can live chat with anyone with an internet connection. I’ve learned a lot. Anyways, nice to see you back Pat!

    I’m aware that in other countries cars have different names but that looks like a Nissan Qashqai to me. I know this because I bought a new one a few months ago only it’s black. The body shape and wheels are identical. Great car and I love it. Anyway, same or not Pat enjoy the open road. Will be interested to see how you get on with the airbrush. Something I’ve still never used. Say hi to Fi and glad you got to meet up with your other daughter. 🙂

      Thanks Dave it was great to have all the mob together for two weeks, as for the car mate it’s a Mitsubishi and they call it an Eclipse cross 🤔, the one thing I find strange is how high up one sits , it’s a bit technical but I learning , a bit like the airbrush. I myself can’t see you needing one with the models you do , I only purchased it to do a few Tanks and the odd aircraft although priming bigger groups of my little guys cut down the time , Fi returns the greeting, she still pops in for a feed and is still sorting out all of her belongings in her room in our house , might be out by Christmas 🤔😉

        Well It might be a Mitsubishi but it’s about as identical as it comes. Nice car and like you I found mine so much different, don’t even need a key, what’s that all about! Good luck with the airbush. As for the kids I don’t think they really leave these days do they? 😂

        That’s interesting Dave, we have both Nissan and Mitsubishi over here so you are probably right I’ll ask my sales man sometime as he is right up with cars. As for the key🤔I was lucky to have past experience with one in Edinburgh with the hire car, “ hey mate were does the key go ?” To which he replied , “I put it in the coffee cup holder “.😳. Your right about kids, one might be next door but the one in Melbourne is forever on the phone to here mum🤔!

    Happy anniversary Pat, good to hear the tech advisor could help with the airbrush woes, and it didn’t need to be binned. Enjoy the new toys ( car, lawnmower, and airbrush) hopefully they will all make life easier.
    Must have been nice to have the whole family there, after so much time apart.

      Thanks Dave we are very fortunate to be able to see each other as there are still some that can’t due to some state borders still being closed. Knowing my mechanical skills It is only simple Airbrush and relatively cheap compared to the norm, I’ll do a post on it soon🤓.

    Awesome news all around!
    Suggestion on the airbrush, start my just priming, it’s kinda hard to screw-up and you can practice trigger control! As to the clogging, thin your paints and lower the airpressure is the best recipe for success! Oh that and wipe out the cup with a paper towel and then do most of your cleaning with water before running cleaning solution through everything. Good luck!

      Cheers Ec, I have been doing what you say but that bit about thinning the paint might just be my problem 🤔. You did tell me to practice heaps but I got carried away and painted two little guys🥴, I’ll post them soon so you can see how I went.

    Congrats on your anniversary and I must say, you’re getting spoiled with a new car and an airbrush. What more could a gentleman want? 😀

    It looks like people have given you some good advice above so I’ll add what I can at the risk of being repetitive. I had the same frustrations with taking my airbrush apart and putting it back together wrongly. When it comes to doing anything with the airbrush, try and get paint, varnish, etc., that is made for an airbrush. It will be thinner and pass through an airbrush more easily and hopefully prevent clogs. You can get thinners for airbrush stuff as well. I used that sort of thing made by Vallejo and it seemed to help.

    Clogs seem to be inevitable though and mastering how to “fix” them will determine how you get on with airbrushes. I couldn’t figure it out with cheap Iwata ones and after three or four ruined ones, I’ve given up for now. They’re super handy though so I hope that you enjoy using yours and I bet I’ll return one day to try and get better with them myself because they let you do things much more efficiently.

      Thanks matey , never enough feed back as I’m always open to help and advice , one thing I have learnt is that some ones way of explaining things isn’t always the one that will get through your thick scull 😅so the more advice the better , as I say to my girls it’s only my advice, you don’t always need to take if someone else’s suit you on the occasion. I did buy the Vallejo Air colours and cleaned diligently but It still blocked up . Today , nervously, I tried Eric’s advice of thinning it out and that worked , one thing I have learn , take photos before you pull it apart 😃😅😅😅

        It is very much a learning process and you’ll probably have to try different things until you figure out what works for you. I’ll be curious to hear how you get on with the airbrush!

        Thanks mate, its like you say , practicing new things is the way to go, I new it wouldn’t be easy so I am happy to get some fair results so far 🤔, well I’m my opinion 😅😅.

      Thanks Pete , oh it’s nice but a bit scary for an old guy 😅😅, f…k I’m having trouble with a 30 quid Airbrush should I be allowed to drive a car made in the 21st century, my last one was made before the turn😅😅😅

      Thanks matey ! I had to laugh in regards to the pod😅😅when you gave out the shout about me binging! It was only when I had caught up again that I fell back again 😳so it’s back to binging mate ! Oh and I have to say even though I love big Wazz the show would be shit without the Master humour Wizard and his faith full mates 👍🏻love the laughs , keep it up boys . Oh it should be compulsory listening for the Barmy Army when there teams being thrashed 😅😅😂

      Not brave mate, just silly,🥴it was cheap so I took the risk just to paint a few Tanks and the occasional aircraft I certainly won’t be giving up the old faithful paintbrushes😅😅
