Well todayβs post is a very brief one as we have had a brief glimpse of summer and the chores around the patch have only become bigger as we also had some unseasonal rain! You know what heat and moisture does β¦ everything suddenly grows bigger, including the weeds! Well enough of that.
What we have today is just a mini of some Napoleonic period Brits involved in a skirmish. Nothing fantastic, but as I have painted them up I thought I had better base them to show of my slight improvement in painting skills Haha.
The two cavalry figures are ones that I missed from an earlier post and it just shows how I have slightly changed the same figure and mounted him on a different plinth.
Well thatβs it, take care and Iβll be back next week with some Dark Alliance cavalry, cheers Pat.

Great work Pat, it’s not a period I know much about, but can totally appreciate the work in the painting and basing though.

Thanks Dave, although it is my favourite period I feel I have may have come to the end, Iβm thinking of trying my hand at the Crimean this year, but at first glance there looks to be a heap of horses that will need to be painted ππππ».

Tidy work Pat. Itβs crazy to me that you can get so much detail onto 1/72 scale. Well done.

Great work! Difficult colour combination to brush paint, white doesn’t want to cover anything and even the smallest bit of red gets everywhere!

Hi Pat do I espy a mix of figures? Take it that they are unmodified? Either way nice to see these figures in a diorama.

Thanks mateyππ»well spied, when you mentioned the mix I had to go and have a peep as itβs been about six months since I painted them and had forgotten which guys I had used. The only modifications I manage is a bit of boiling , Iβm not sure if I had to bog any Belgic shakoβs or not π€. Looking at it now I can see some Hat peninsula guys, Italeri Brits and maybe the odd A call to arms boys m, Iβm not sure if there are any Italeri 95th in there as well π.

Thanks matey ππ»I still have some Napoleonic guys and some Fantasy fellows to post, I have been clearing up and am finding stuff I painted last year during the eye surgery period, wow I had forgotten how many things I did in that hiatus from postingπ³.
Well while I was rummaging around I found Strelets β valley of death guys from the Crimea and thought as I love painting horses ( what the …. who said that β)πI would get into it this year when all the rest are posted. Cheers mate I trust itβs not to cold over in your neck of the woods ππ»

That sounds great to me and I always enjoy seeing what you come up with as far as fantasy subjects go. It hasn’t been too cold here this year, so far. We’ve barely had any snow too so it has been a very strange winter so far.

ππI have come up with a strange fantasy idea now that you mention it mate , not sure where it came from but it is certainly strange, Iβll be interested in what you think when itβs done further down the line π.
The reason I asked about your weather is because we normally have a summer thatβs hot but this year itβs been very cool which is kind of weirdπ€.

My interest is piqued! You’re having a cool summer and we’re having a warm winter. I keep telling it to my wife mostly that global warming has to be happening because in general, the winters seem to be getting more and more mild since we moved here nearly six years ago now. Small sample size, I know, but it feels like something strange is going on.

Your right mate, the climate is getting pretty weird no doubt about it. Funny how one complains about something it will suddenly changeπsummer has just arrived, two months late, it must have slept inπ π. I have been out all day working on the garden as Iβm hiring a new gardener and I donβt want it looking to shoddyπ π .
I must be like my old mum who used to clean before her cleaner came π³weird ehπ π ππ».

That does tend to happen! Every time I point something out, it changes and I feel foolish. I would do the same thing, mate. I like things to be a certain way and up to a certain standard and anything less is embarrassing to me π

I had a boss when I was in menswear, I ran the warehouse, when he and the salespeople would have a manufacturer in to sell them his new range for the season he would always ask me to come in and view the range. He would then ask me to pick out the clothes I liked , after doing so he would tell the rep to take them out of the collection, strange I thought and he would say thatβs all thanks you can go back to your work in the warehouse. Curiosity got the better of me so some time later I brought it up with him , oh he said we just wanted to narrow things down quickly and we realised early on that anything you liked would not sell! π π .

He was mate and itβs one of the funniest stories I tell , like you said bloody honest. Weird thing is that he wants to catch up after all these years, canβt believe it but Iβm so looking forward to chewing the fat with him, from what he has hinted at his life since then has been anything but boring ππ.
