Desert Ambush

Well folks, as you know it’s been some months since the last post. As some of you would know my wife was ill, fortunately she is well on the road to recovery and can now do a lot of the chores, certainly a great relief to me. 😄

Sometime back the old computer packed it in as the NBN made some connection upgrades which was too much for it and it refused to cooperate, so it just sat on the desk and sulked. As it is spring and planting time, I wasn’t too concerned as I have had my hands full out in our expansive vegetable patch. However, in the meantime Tech Adviser, (who left us here to work for Apple Retail,) organised a new fandangle one and installed it yesterday 😃 To my amazement it has been a lot easier for me to use! Got to love new technology.

As a bit more time became available, I was able to rummage up some figures from the depths of the shed. Paired with a base from my large collection of failed attempts I was able to put this one together. I have always had an interest in these desert guys so after a bit of planning this is the result.

The old Matilda tank is from Airfix and the desert patrol car is a marvellous model from Dragon. The figures are mainly Orion set 72062 Long range Desert Group which I consider excellent. I think the helmeted guys are a mix of Airfix and Italeri guys.

That’s about all for now as I get used to this neat new computer. I should be back posting some others soon, I trust you have all been keeping well in my absence, until then keep well. Cheers Pat.

This little kookaburra came for a snack on one of our trips up to the Murray river.

Great to hear your wife is feeling much better, and the the tech advisor has been able to get the new PC up and running for you.

Awesome diorama Pat, it gives the sense of an opening engagement, as the men rush to spread out and gain better positions to return fire.

Thanks Dave it was handy that I had everything paint up before hand. Great to have Jill back on deck 😉to do those chores I wasn’t too keen on😅. I have to admit it will take a bit of getting used to the new machine but it certainly makes doing a post easier than the old dinosaur.

That’s great news all around! I’m glad your wife is doing well and the fact that you like your new computer is really something. When my Dad gets new technology its the opposite result usually haha!

That diorama is sensational! There is a great sense of movement in it and the desert ground looks stunning. I like a good desert dio myself 🙂

This probably won’t surprise you but if I want to see a Kookaburra, I have to go to the zoo! That’s as close as I’ve gotten to any of the cool animals in Oz. In fact, you’ve got quite a few cool ones I’d love to see but they aren’t in many zoos even here, if you can believe it!

Thanks mate good to have her backing working 😉, I can understand how your dad feels but once I can see how it’s so much easier I’ll grab it a run😅.
I’m glad you like a dessert dio as I seem to be in that groove at the moment🤔, I had the base hanging around and it wasn’t until I came across the desert patrol guys that the dio came to fruition.
I’m surprised that you don’t have many zoos what with your huge population, we have around 200 around the whole country so I will never see them all. I reckon you have some pretty cool ones, I love the raccoon and the stunk even though I know he is a bit smelly 😂.

Thanks matey It is good to have her back on the road to recovery, she has improved so much I feel it won’t be long before she’s 100%. The little guy just flew down and landed on the seat next to my head😳, obviously he had been fed treat before and could spot a sucker at 50 feet😅. I’m glad you liked the washes as it I

Thanks matey I glad you gave this one a thumbs up as I wasn’t sure if it had worked or not, great feed back from the gang also😀. It is a big relief having her backing working on track so thanks for the well wishes, oh I do pass them on to her as she likes to hear what’s happening on the blog.
