What to do with “The Last Big Battle”.

Hey everyone, I mentioned in my last post that I’d be seeking advice. Well, years ago, I embarked on a massive project that never resulted in a cap being made. It’s been sitting on a shelf in the shed, collecting dust. Cleaning it up would be a significant undertaking, but it still leaves me with the question of what to do with it. One possible solution is to decommission it by removing all the figures. That would be a massive undertaking, though. It was originally intended to be two separate dioramas, so I could split it down the middle, separating the Orcs from the cavalry. But for some reason, I ended up making it into a much bigger project, haha. So, I’m hoping you can offer some ideas. If you’d like to see the original post, feel free to check it out.

What about one of those hoover attachments that has built in ‘fingers’ it is designed to remove dust but leave things in place. The problem might be the fingers are too inflexible for plastic minis. You can also get computer ‘hoovers’ for working inside PC’s.

😂😂👍🏻I used one of those and boy those fingers got me going Steve , but the wife banned it, I do have one of those but the figures are far to close for it to operate, cheers anyway mate, I trust you are better, been a bit slack as the bloody work on the orchard takes up a lot of my time, especially when I should be indoors as it really cold, we are having a cold winter 🥶it was 0 degrees this morning 😄😉.

    That’s pretty epic, Pat.
I guess you could try to cut it down the middle by removing some of the models in the melee rather than most of the models.
For dusting it might be worth trying a can (or three) of compressed air. The stuff you use to clean computer components with. That and then going in with make-up brushes (they’re cheap on Amazon).
When I have single figures with that problem I usually try to use a soft brush up to a soft bristle toothbrush and some warm soapy water but that’s clearly not going to work on a project this size…

Thanks Azaz I did try the air duster on its own but that failed but when IRO and the lads said to use the make up brush it worked a treat so thanks for that.
Originally it was going to be in two pieces but I ended up putting them together and building the old ruined structure over the dividing line 😡. So now I’ll have to work out what to do with that because as it stands it to bloody big to put on any of the shelves I have in the house 😂😂😉.

Sounds like you’ve got a few ideas there and I can’t think of anything I’m afraid! As far as the diorama goes it’d still be impressive at half the size so I’d be inclined to try and split it in half perpendicular to the existing split (if that makes sense). That way you could still have a diorama with two sides facing each other but with half the number of troops on a long, thin base that might then fit on you shelves. OK, it might be tricky cutting it and it’d need careful tidying up but it might mean you can display it!

Thanks John the cleaning bit is covered as you say and your on the right track with the division as it was originally going to be two separate ones there is a divided line between the to armies, the only problem is I put a ruined building over the dividing line which will have to be removed . Silly me never thought I would run out of space 😂😂👍🏻.
