Hi folks, just a quick one to let you know I’m still around and doing some modelling apart from finishing the decoupages. I have finished the wife’s present and am just waiting for the frame. I received a note that I have been blogging for seven years which is quite a surprise, how time flies, so a big thank you to you all for following me. Your positive comments and helpful tips have kept this old fellow struggling along with modern technology. I do admire the way you all just bang out a post at the drop of a hat while I drag out the well-worn instructions that young Fi did for me, then the buggers wanted to change the format, nearly chucked it in then!!
While I’m on it, one of my early followers whom you all know as IRO, young Luke, has been a great aid to me especially recently when sanding and varnishing in the shed. I’ve been plugged in listening to his hilarious and informative Podcast he does with his cobber Big Wazz called The Fly on the Wall. It is pretty rough but it’s worth having a listen to if you are into Podcasts and not easily shocked!
Well in the past I have pretty well been able to stick with one project and see it through to completion, but of late I have gone off the rails and have a couple of projects going on whilst spending recklessly (as you can see in the last photo!). All in all I have gotten myself in a bind!! Anyway I have a smaller WWI project using the little tanks I have managed to make and paint as shown. It’s not your usual WWI diorama but something a little different. I wouldn’t even try to do any Western front ones as there are so many brilliant ones done by more talented folk than I.
Well thanks again all you talented folk for your support and I will try to drag out the instructions and post something soon.

Hi Pat,
Where did you get the magnifier from. With my old eyes it would be a godsend!
BTW there were eight Mk 1 tanks in Palestine, a couple of which fought at Gaza without much success. At the very least they diverted artillery fire. I think I have some photos if you are interested.

Bingo Pig 😃that’s exactly where I’m headed , the desert version caught my eye and that led me to checking out why and thus the idea formed of doing a little one based on that , the photos would be most welcome 🤓. The magnifying glass I bought at Models and Hobbies for you in Dorset rd Boronia when I started out eight years ago . The owners name is Chris and the phone number is 03 9762 9266 , I great Pom but tells crap jokes 😅😅

There are also a lot of Magnifying Lamp options – and obviously turning the lamp on is optional. We first saw them in a hobby store years ago where the owner told us he got his from Bunnings. The ones we picked up aren’t there any more, but they have a fair few other options…

When I realised I needed one I first bought just a magnifier on its own , then I needed light so I got a magnifying lamp but only for the light as I find the big old free standing magnifier more comfortable to use 🤔.

Congratulations on the 7 years Pat and very nice work on the tanks. By the look of your work station and the size of your stash you have got plenty to keep you occupied for another 7 years! 🙂

Congratulations on the 7 years Pat, and for managing through the nightmare that the updates on the blogging platforms that caused everyone headaches. I think you may have been listening to too many of Luke’s podcasts, and started to become a hobby butterfly like the rest of us ! LOL
Here’s to you continuing on for as long as you want to, and look forward to seeing these projects develop.

That’s a lot of 1/72 scale armor, my friend! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!. I’ve often thought about doing a combined arms diorama, but even single seater fighters are so much bigger than the biggest tank, it makes my brain hurt. Good luck and have fun with all those kits! Now I’m off to see how long I’ve been on this blogging journey myself!

Thanks mate I’m not sure if I will get them all done this year 😅😅😅, and combining planes and tanks is not something I would do with WWII planes but I’m going to see if I can do it with a little WWI one 🤔

Nice tanks, Pat! 🙂 I’m actually working on some WW1 stuff at the moment for completion some time in the future! That’s a nice selection of kits and a pretty tidy workstation!

Lovely tanks! I do like the work desk scene, a place where I can imagine all the creativity and magic happening right there.
Here’s to 7 more years!! 🙂

Seven years is very impressive, Pat! I do have to admit that I had a good chuckle when I saw IRO being called Young Luke. He’s got a few years on me so I don’t consider him young but I know he’s got a few years on you as well so its all fair I suppose 🙂 I love to see anything WWI so I’m intrigued by this latest project and can’t wait to see more progress on it! I hope you’re enjoying the warm weather in Oz. We got eight inches of snow and could get 10 more in the next 48 hours.

Thanks Jeff they have certainly whipped past , I couldn’t believe it! At my age most people are young and Luke’s dad has only a few on me so it was great to hear him on the Pod talking music 😃. I am looking forward to getting into the WWI project, another I have wanted to do for a while . Loving the warmth mate , I don’t think I have the fortitude to handle all that snow 😳. Long ago when I lived in the UK for a couple of years it was novel at first but that was enough 😡I think one has to be born with it to handle it .

I know what you mean. Time really does fly! It does help to be born with snow but you do adjust with time too. I lived in a little warmer and less snowier place than where I am now and I’m mostly adjusted to the harsher climate now. You do get tired of winter though no matter how many of them you live through! The snow and ice are a lot of work.

I can imagine that as we do see your weather over here all the time especially the time just gone when there was a brush fire followed by a snow storm 😳

I nearly forgot about that happening. We’re a lot like Australia in that we can have wildly different weather going on across the country in different places. That’s the only way you can explain that kind of craziness!

It funny that a natural disaster like bushfires can make two countries so far apart be bound together, we do hear of other countries disasters but if you have a bush fire or what you guys term a wildfire it’s right up there at the front of the news.

Thanks Jeff , but I’m not sure about the fun bit as I’m not the best user of glue , it tends to take to me more than the model 😅😅😅.

Nice work on the Tanks Pat, they look a treat! always nice to see a post from you, and to hear you are listening to IRO’s Podcast, I always think it like listening to two nutters talking on the bus and your sat opposite trying desperately not to make eye contact with them! 😁
That’s a fair few models, that’ll keep you off the streets for a bit!
Cheers Roger.

Thanks Rog , I like that, two old nutters , sounds like me and the old wife 😅😅😅.I have to say when I look at all those kits to be made I do shudder , maybe I have bitten of more than I can chew🧐.

Gone off the rails/multiple projects on the go/spending recklessly – there’s a familiar story! 😆 I’m well behind on reading your posts so I’ll have to catch up; not sure if I’m about to see the outcome of this project as I work my way through your more recent posts or if it’s still to be revealed, either way I’m looking forward to it!

Hello Pat,
What an excellent site – full of inspiring ideas.
Could I use some of your pictures on my site as a reference? I will, of course, refer them back to your site.
I have been building my site for years but now I am nearing retirement I want to spend an hour per day on it. Model-Building is just a part of it but your ideas just fit the bill.
http://www.dragonkingdoms.co.uk is the site – click on models and you will be the first post there.
Keep going as the site is brilliant!
All the best,
Richard
